Vedado is the part of Havana situated between Old Havana (Habana vieja) in the east and newer part called Miramar in the west, wich is separated by a tunnel (tunel de Linea).
It is the most modern part of the city, developed in the first half of the 20th century, during the republic period.
The main street running east to west is Calle 23. The northern edge of the district is the waterfront seawall known as the Malecon and it’s in a short walking distance from the house.
We have a lots of good restaurants in the area. One of the verygood Paladars we highly recommend is El Cocinero, located at Calle 26 between 11th and 13th.
There is also a lovely restaurant wich we recommend just up the road from Hotel Nacional, called Havana’s 21.
A trip around the neighborhoed in a Coco taxi can be a real nice expirience.
In the area transportation is not an issue as there are plenty of old car taxi’s going by all the time (we call them Almendrones).
